Ipe Decking PricesAt Advantage Trim & Lumber Co., Inc. we have cheap decking prices that can’t be beat. No other hardwood supplier in the country sells true sustainable wood at such low prices. If you do happen to stumble upon a vendor that is severely under market, ask yourself this? Where did they get their wood from? How can I be sure it’s the best grade?

It may be an old saying, but it always rings true: You get what you pay for.

With that in mind, doesn’t it make sense to go with the company that for years has consistently been the Number 1 supplier of hardwood decking species like ipe?

Save money, time, and get the peace of mind you need when you buy hardwood direct from Advantage Trim & Lumber Co., Inc. Check our our decking sale, still going on now.

Originating from Central and South America as well as the Caribbean, Ipe is prized for its strength. You can find ipe decking in commercial applications such as boardwalks and siding as well as marine environments. Piers and docks are ideal locations for this hardwood as well as decks and interior flooring.

Areas with extreme weather benefit greatly from this tropical hardwood especially due to the heavy weight of snow. Due to this exotic hardwood’s immense amount of bending strength (22,560 psi), you can rest assured that under a few feet of snow, ipe can handle alot.

NOTE: Local building codes require a more dense wood for applications where snow will accumulate and sit for long periods of time. Ipe meets and exceeds the local building codes for many applications. Don’t skimp out and use an inferior wood that will have to be replaced in 5-10 years. Ipe is 8x’s harder than the California redwood and will last over 100 years with one application of UV enhancer.

Be sure to check with your local building code inspector for confirmation.

End Grain SealantJust imagine your order of ipe decking arrives just in time. You look over each board and can see right away that each board is definitely premium grade. Satisfied, you start cutting and installing your deck right away. Things go smoothly and you’re about 75% of the way done when you start to see what looks like cracks in your decking. The worst part? It’s not just one or two boards (That would be manageable). To your horror you see that 90% of your boards are “end checking.”

Unfortunately, this happens to more than one person who fails to properly take care of their decking before they install it.

Thankfully, there’s a very easy way to prevent this disaster from happening.

Simply apply a wax-based hardwood end sealer to each board. Why? Like the tale above, end checking can occur if you don’t apply an end grain sealant and will make a once immaculate looking deck look aged and unattractive very fast.

You benefit most by using a product such as an End Grain Sealant because:

  • It’s a one-time application
  • It can be applied easily
  • Prevents end checking (aka end splits)

For more information, or to order this essential product to protect your ipe decking contact Advantage Trim & Lumber today.

Special Note: This wax emulsion sealer must be applied to the ends of each board only. Avoid getting it on the surface of your decking.
