Trees of the Bible

Trees have carried great significance throughout Christianity. 37 specific names of trees are mentioned in the King James Version of the Bible. While most of the trees spoken of are native to Israel, some were brought in antiquity by travelers who passed through Israel along their trade route between Asia Minor and Egypt.

Acacia: It is said that the Ark of the Covenant was made from acacia and then covered in gold.
Almug: King Hiram's navy brought back almug from Lebannon.
Carob: The seeds of the carob tree were used to measure weight.
Cedar: Cedars appear in the Bible several times and are used as a symbol of power and prestige.
Olive: Being anointed in olive oil is a very sacred ritual in Christianity.
Sycamore: Zacchaeus climbed a sycamore to get a better view of Jesus as he passed by.
